Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) Course

 

            LOAC Course was conducted between 02-13 November 2009 at PfP Training Center / Ankara. The aim of the course is to provide military and civilian personnel an appropriate balance of academic and practical knowledge in the principal areas of international law relating to the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) and to enable participants to acquire ability and knowledge on the broad field of the Law of Armed Conflict. The course was conducted in two weeks program composed of mainly lectures, seminars and syndicate works. Also a field exercise was conducted at 28th Mechanised Brigade in Mamak-Ankara. The course is accredited by NATO on 14th May 2008.

     

            Totally 39 participants from NATO (Albania, Greece, Hungary and Turkey), Partnership for Peace (Austria, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Sweden, Ukraine), MD (Egypt, Jordan), ICI (Kuwait) and Other UN Member (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kosova) countries attended the course.

           

            The instructor team consisted of 15 instructors from NATO School, Brunssum Joint Force Command, Irish Ministry of Defense Legal Deparment, Turkish General Staff Judge Advocate Generals, Turkish General Staff Special Secretariat, Turkish Gendarmerie General Command, Turkish Land Forces Command, UNHCR, ICRC, Turkish PfP Training Center and Center of Excellence Defense Against Terrorism.
