Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) Course 

 

     LOAC Course was conducted between 09-20 March 2009 at PfP Training Center / Ankara. The aim of the course is to teach principle of applicable law concerning LOAC by means of workshop and field training, how to cooperate with the fundamental organizations related to the LOAC, familiarization with the principle law dealing with armed conflict, understanding legal principles of Peace Support Operations (PSO) as well as rules and regulations of PSOs based on international law, evaluation of laws and regulations relate to the LOAC, command responsibility and war crimes, logistics and rear areas, conduct of LOAC Training. The course was conducted according to the curriculum consisting of several lectures, presentations, syndicate works and a field training exercise which was conducted in the 28 th Mechanized (Peace) Brigade.

 

    

     

     Totally 38 participants from 6 NATO (Czech Republic 2, Germany 1, Greece 1, Romania 1, Slovenia 2, Turkey 11), 10 Partnership for Peace (Azerbaijan 2, Belarus 1, Croatia 1, Kazakhstan 1, Kyrgyzstan 2, Macedonia 1, Moldova 2, Serbia 1, Sweden 3, Ukraine 1), 1 Mediterranean Dialogue (Egypt 1), 1 ICI (Kuwait 2) and 2 Other UN Member (Afghanistan 1, Bangladesh 1) countries attended the course.

 

 

        The instructor team consisted of 16 instructors from ICRC (3), Ireland Armed Forces (1), NATO School (1), Turkish General Staff (9), London University (1) and UNHCR (1).
